JOB DESCRIPTION – CHINA SALES MANAGER

Role Purpose

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven China Sales Manager to lead and develop sales activity across the China market. The role is responsible for driving profitable revenue growth through effective management of channel partners, distribution networks, key accounts and the sales team while strengthening market presence across key industry sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for developing structured sales strategies, improving territory coverage, strengthening customer relationships, increasing market penetration and ensuring strong sales process, forecasting and pipeline discipline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop sales activity across the assigned China territory.
  • Develop and implement strategic sales plans to achieve sales and gross margin objectives.
  • Manage, coach and develop the sales team to improve commercial performance and customer engagement.
  • Identify, appoint and develop high-performing channel partners and distribution networks.
  • Conduct regular business reviews with channel partners covering sales performance, market opportunities, stock levels and growth plans.
  • Develop structured territory and travel plans to maximise market coverage and customer engagement.
  • Maintain regular face-to-face contact with channel partners, key accounts and end users.
  • Drive new business acquisition while developing existing customer relationships to increase revenue and profitability.
  • Work closely with Marketing to support lead generation campaigns and promotional activities.
  • Monitor competitor activity, pricing, market trends and customer feedback and provide recommendations to management.
  • Support channel partners and customers with product positioning, sales training and commercial development initiatives.
  • Ensure pricing, discounts and commercial agreements align with company objectives and profitability expectations.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer, lead and opportunity information within CRM systems.
  • Ensure opportunities are actively managed through the defined sales process with timely follow-up activity.
  • Produce accurate monthly sales forecasts, pipeline reviews and management reports.
  • Review dormant and ageing accounts/opportunities and implement recovery or closure plans where appropriate.
  • Coordinate with internal departments including Operations, Customer Service, Finance and Technical teams to support customer requirements.
  • Represent the business professionally at trade shows, exhibitions, customer meetings and industry events.
  • Support the ongoing development and training of the sales team.
  • Ensure a high level of customer service and responsiveness at all times.
  • Carry out additional duties as reasonably requested by management.

Required Skills & Attributes

  • Proven experience managing and developing channel partners and distribution networks.
  • Strong sales leadership and commercial management capability.
  • Experience using CRM systems and pipeline management tools.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Results-driven with a proactive sales approach.
  • Ability to manage priorities and work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to analyse sales and margin performance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Fluent Chinese language skills with preferred fluent English written and verbal communication.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or related discipline preferred, or equivalent commercial sales leadership experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in sales leadership, distributor management or business development.
  • Experience within technical B2B product sectors preferred.
