Role Overview

As part of the quality team the Inspector will work closely with stores, purchasing and suppliers to ensure that defined standards are achieved, maintained and improved.

The Inspectors main responsibilities will be the quality of parts and material delivered into the company from suppliers, calibration of measuring equipment and assisting with inspection and quality duties throughout manufacturing.

General Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform the inspection and test of components and materials at Goods-in to defined quality standards
  • Interpret engineering drawings
  • To ensure calibration of measuring equipment is carried out and all equipment is maintained to the standard required
  • Document inspection results by completing the relevant reports
  • Raise non-conformance reports promptly and efficiently, segregating non-conforming product
  • To play a key role in the transfer of inspection records and procedures onto a quality database
  • Perform the inspection of in-house manufactured parts and finished products when required
  • Operate and program CMM equipment
  • Ensure quality systems are being adhered to and are operating effectively
  • Promote high standards of quality throughout the business
  • Maintain 5S standards of order and cleanliness within good receipt and inspection area
  • Assist with communication, training and development of suppliers when appropriate
  • Ensure that you work in a safe manner and comply with the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental Policy
  • To carry out any other duties not listed above as may reasonably be expected

Person Specification

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Have experience of working in an engineering/manufacturing environment in an inspection quality role or production role
  • Be able to interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience in using a large variety of measurement equipment. Use of CMMs is an advantage
  • Able to use Excel, Word and other common applications
  • Experience of ISO9001 requirements is an advantage
  • A knowledge of statistical quality control techniques would be an advantage

Qualifications               

  • Time served or a qualification in inspection/quality would be advantageous.
  • Proven work history is essential
  • Full UK driving licence
