The role will primarily be to design and develop the companies products working towards new product innovations, product development, and integration into production and design for manufacture. You will report directly to the Technical Director but liaising on a continuous basis with the Quality Manager, Operations Manager and CEO to ensure that products are engineered in accordance with the design intent.
The day-to-day duties will include:
- 3D CAD design using Solidworks
- FEA Electromagnetic analysis (where necessary)
- Timely conversion of enquiries into design concepts, ultimately leading to samples for the addition of new product lines.
- On time and accurate delivery of BoM’s, assembly drawings and component detail drawings.
- Providing technical support directly to customers, suppliers and the sales team.
- Work with and develop the company’s test facilities to meet the requirements of research and product development. (Both laboratory & production line)
- Liaising with the Technical Director & all functions within the organisation to support and improve existing in addition to develop new products.
The Person
The successful candidate should be qualified to degree/HNC level or equivalent, from a mechanical, electrical or a combined mechatronic subject base. Candidates without a degree, but with the required skills and experience, will be considered.
Ideally, you should have transferable skills/knowledge from an industry with some synergy (i.e. direct competitors or a solenoid / electrical motor manufacturing background).
Candidates should have knowledge and experience of understanding the principles of industrial product design, 3D model creation and component detail drawings as well as associated limitations of manufacturing processes and applications.
The ability to read and understand mechanical drawings is essential. Experience of working with Solidworks or similar is desirable.
Product knowledge of transmission systems would be highly desirable but not essential. Candidates should be self-motivated and innovative with clear communication and excellent IT skills.
