The Role

The role is Group Financial Accountant, to work within an experienced Group Finance team of 6.  The team deals with the preparation and analysis of the Group’s monthly, quarterly and annual financial results, as well as with fixed assets, lease accounting, tax, treasury, audit, and other group projects including all external stakeholder reporting. Group Finance is part of a wider finance and procurement team of over 50 people.

The primary responsibilities will include:

  • Management of the Financial Accountant (Group Finance) within the Group Finance team;
  • Preparation of monthly management accounting consolidation of group companies and completion of analytical review;
  • Responsible for monthly and quarterly reporting process, both internal and external
  • Act as one of the primary points of contact with external and internal auditors;
  • Provide solutions to accounting issues;
  • Preparation of annual statutory financial statements for all companies within the Group, under IFRS and UK GAAP, including iXBRL requirements;
  • Supervise the accounting for number of Group management overhead companies, across all of the financial cycle including full ownership of the balance sheets;
  • Assist with the group corporation tax process, including data preparation for computations, review of consequent outputs and liaison with Group’s external tax advisers;
  • Assist with the annual 5 year business plan process including maintaining models and documenting assumptions;
  • Involvement in internal controls design and effectiveness reviews, including review and testing of processes;
  • Preparation of quarterly profit and tax forecasts, budget, together with covenant reporting;
  • Involvement in project of increasing automation in reporting and consolidation process; and
  • Ad hoc assignments.


  • ACA/ACCA qualified,
  • Clear understanding of current accounting / technical issues including IFRS;
  • Sound “hands on” accounting background;
  • Self starter able to work unsupervised;
  • Questioning and analytical nature, looking to understand the numbers rather than just prepare them;
  • Strong IT skills including using spreadsheets; and
  • Ability to liaise confidently with all levels of management both operational and financial.
