Person Specification
We are looking for a driven, commercially minded sales professional who can demonstrate a successful track record of developing new business, managing key accounts, and delivering sustainable sales growth.
Qualifications
Candidates should have a good standard of general education. A qualification in Sales, Business, or a technical discipline would be advantageous but is not essential.
Experience
Applicants should have a minimum of five years’ sales experience within a high-volume, quality-focused business and be able to demonstrate a consistent track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets. Experience managing long sales cycles and specification-led sales is essential.
Experience within the cable, electrical, or wider technical product sector would be highly desirable, as would a background selling into projects, OEMs, contractors, distributors, and end users.
Technical Knowledge & Skills
The successful candidate will be able to develop and implement structured sales plans with clear objectives, while managing and delivering against sales budgets. They will have a strong understanding of account management, contractor engagement, and distributor relationships, together with the ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders and technical specialists.
They should be commercially aware, capable of identifying market trends and growth opportunities, and possess a sound technical understanding of products and their applications. Strong presentation skills are essential, with the confidence to lead technical meetings and customer presentations. A disciplined approach to CRM management, reporting, and sales documentation is also expected.
Personal Attributes
The ideal candidate will be highly organised with excellent time management skills and be comfortable working independently in a home-based environment. They will be self-motivated, disciplined, and committed to delivering on promises while maintaining high standards.
They should be resilient and persistent, recognising that successful sales often involve long sales cycles and relationship building. A collaborative approach is essential, with the ability to build strong internal and external relationships, challenge constructively when appropriate, and work closely with colleagues to achieve the best outcomes for customers and the business.
Above all, we’re looking for someone with a genuine passion for sales, a competitive mindset, and the drive to win as part of a successful team. A continuous improvement mindset and a desire to keep developing professionally will be highly valued.
Other Requirements
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to quality and will actively support the company’s health, safety, environmental, and compliance standards in all aspects of their work.
