The Role:

As Operations Manager you will assist with leading the growth of the client, including implementation of medium and long-term strategies, developing processes to allow entry into new markets and delivering objectives and business performance management, with an appreciation of risk, aspects and impacts.

As part of the role you will drive operations to ensure the efficient utilisation of all operational resources, machine shop and assembly, implementing effective execution of production planning, manufacturing processes and controls.

  1. What you’ll be doing:
  • Effective planning and utilisation of resources to achieve monthly production targets; reviewing targets, and prioritising orders.
  • Execute the production plan in line with Quality, Cost and Delivery.
  • Lead the shop floor operations team to ensure effective utilisation of resources, tooling, plant and equipment across all operational areas and activities.
  • Drive OEE improvement activities and initiatives.
  • Investigate, recommend and implement new or improved production planning methods, processes and systems to increase manufacturing efficiency, improve reporting and reduce costs.
  • Oversee onsite maintenance, ensuring machine maintenance schedules are adhered to.
  • Lead and support continuous improvement utilising Kaizen and lean principles.
  • In conjunction with the quality manager ensure the Quality Management System (QMS) is continually reviewed and developed.
  • Support the development of suitable inspection plans and processes to improve levels of quality.
  • Implementation of best practice techniques to allow repeatable and capable operational processes and procedures, for highly quality tolerances.
  • Work within and strive to reduce budgeted expenses allocated to your direct areas.
  • Drive the team to be fully engaged in the business direction, focusing on HSE, production, supply chain and India strategies and objectives.
  • Develop a lean best practice culture to improve people, product, quality and performance whilst reducing cost.
  • Promote good employee relations and engagement to ensure growth and quality of people by way of talent and succession planning;
  • Lead and direct your teams ensuring clear strategy is developed, objectives agreed and targets achieved.
  • Review and develop the competency and flexibility of your teams ensuring the correct level of skills to achieve the strategic and tactical requirements.
  • In conjunction with the HSE manager develop internal HSE policy and strategy, leading a robust and compliant, Health, Safety and Environmental system.
  • In conjunction with the supply chain manager ensure processes and targets are monitored and achieved. Drive the integration and utilisation of India, regarding capacity, quality and delivery.
  1. Who we’re looking for:

To apply we ask that you have a relevant qualification in engineering i.e. HNC or NVQ level 4, and relevant qualifications in line management, HSE and lean principles. You will have at least 4 years’ experience at senior management level including production, planning, supply chain and HSE with knowledge of strategic planning within a machine shop and assembly environment.

We are also looking for someone who has a proven history of delivering an improvement culture with strong leadership qualities and change management abilities.
