Howie White held its first golf day at Matfen hall in Northumberland on Friday 7th October 2016 with a nine-hole stableford competition for golfers then nine holes pairs on the par three course where only the non-golfers were allowed to use a putter. While the golfers hacked their way round the front nine, their partners all non-golfing women were put through their paces on the practice green by Matfen Halls John Harrison and JJ Valley. It proved to be a winning experience for Jen Smith as she was voted the best putter by the pros but she couldn’t take that form onto the short course. That honour fell to Nicola Blanshard who won the main golfing trophy with husband Mark. Ken Pearce won the golfers nine-holer.
